Is Plus AI free? No, not in the way most people hope. Plus AI has no free forever plan: you get a 7 day free trial with 1,000 AI credits, a credit card is required to start it, and when the trial ends your card is charged for the plan you picked. Paid plans start at $10 per user a month on annual billing (Basic) and every plan covers both the Google Slides add on and the PowerPoint add in.
So the trial can cover one deck this week, as long as you cancel in time. This guide covers the trial, the plans, what credits buy, how to cancel and how Plus AI differs from Google AI Plus. We read Plus AI's pricing page, its help center and its marketplace listing, and checked everything on November 4, 2026. We did not sign up or test the product first hand.
Is Plus AI free? The short answer
Plus AI is an AI presentation maker that runs inside the apps you already use. It installs as an add on in Google Slides (and Google Docs) and as an add in for PowerPoint, then builds or edits real slides in that file instead of exporting from a separate website.
The Plus AI pricing page says every plan starts with a 7 day free trial that includes 1,000 AI credits. The Plans and billing page in the Plus AI help center is even more direct: "You need a paid plan to use Plus AI."
That gives three honest answers to the common versions of the question:
- Is Plus AI free to try? Yes, for 7 days, with 1,000 credits.
- Is Plus AI free to keep using? No. After the trial you are on a paid plan unless you cancel.
- Is Plus AI for PowerPoint free, or free for Google Slides? Neither is free on its own. One subscription covers both apps, and the trial covers both too.
How the Plus AI free trial works
The trial is a trial of a paid plan, not a separate free tier. The pricing page and help center set these rules:
- A card is required. You add a credit card when you start, and Plus AI charges it automatically when the 7 days are up.
- Credits are fixed at 1,000. Every trial gets 1,000 AI credits no matter which plan you choose. If you use them all before day 7, the only way to get more is to upgrade.
- You get the full feature set of your chosen plan. Pick Pro for the trial and you can try document uploads and image generation; pick Basic and you can't.
- Unused trial credits don't roll over. When the paid plan starts, you get that plan's monthly credits instead.
- It is for new customers only. The pricing page says anyone who previously signed up for the Plus free plan or a paid plan can't start a new trial.
If you tried Plus AI in the past, plan on paying from day one or using another tool.
Plus AI pricing: plans and what they include
Prices below are per user per month, as listed on the pricing page on November 4, 2026 in US dollars.
| Plan | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Monthly AI credits | Main additions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $10 | $15 | 1,500 | AI presentations in Google Slides and PowerPoint, single slide inserts, rewrite and remix |
| Pro | $20 | $25 | 3,000 | Uploads of PDF, docx and txt files, prompts over 100,000 characters, AI images, MCP server and API |
| Team | $30 | $40 | 6,000 | Custom logo, colors and fonts, advanced image models, saved presets and custom instructions |
| Max | $200 | $240 | Unlimited | Everything in Team plus priority email support |
In words: Basic is $10 billed yearly or $15 monthly, Pro is $20 or $25, Team is $30 or $40 and Max is $200 or $240. Enterprise is a separate, quoted plan with custom templates built from your own slide masters, asset libraries, single sign on and user management.
Two billing rules from the help center are easy to miss. Prices are per user and the whole organization upgrades together, so you can't put one person on Pro and leave the rest on Basic. And coupons go in at the Stripe checkout through an "Add a promotion code" link.
What Plus AI credits actually buy
Credits are the real limit on every plan below Max. The pricing page says a typical task uses between 40 and 170 credits, depending on how complex it is. The help center adds that credits belong to each user (they are not pooled across a team), that they reset every month on your billing date, and that once you hit your limit you can't use the AI agent until the reset.
Some rough math from those published numbers: 1,000 trial credits works out to somewhere between about 6 tasks (if each one costs 170) and 25 tasks (if each costs 40). Basic's 1,500 credits a month is roughly 9 to 37 tasks. These are estimates from Plus AI's range, not measured figures, and generating a whole deck will usually sit at the heavier end of that range compared with rewriting one slide.
On a trial, generate the full first draft once, then make small text fixes by hand rather than asking the AI to rewrite every slide.
How to use Plus AI for Google Slides during the trial
The Plus AI install guide for Google Slides lists the steps:
- Install Plus AI from the Google Workspace Marketplace listing.
- Open a new or existing presentation in Google Slides.
- Go to Extensions, then Plus AI. Choose New presentation to build a deck from scratch, or Edit with Plus AI to insert, remix or rewrite slides.
- Sign in with the Google account you want to use.
- Pick a paid plan to start the free trial and add your card.
If the Extensions menu only shows Help, the guide says this is a common Google Slides bug: reload the page or open a new presentation and try again. In PowerPoint, the process is similar through the add in, and our roundup of the best AI tools for PowerPoint presentations covers that side.
Before you install, read the permission screen. The marketplace listing says the add on asks to see, edit, create and delete your Google Slides presentations, and to view and manage the specific Drive files you use with it.
How to cancel the Plus AI trial before you are charged
The help center gives three routes, and all of them need the organization owner, signed in with the email tied to the Plus account:
- In a browser: go to the billing portal at app.plusdocs.com/billing-portal, click Manage plan to open Stripe, then Cancel subscription.
- In PowerPoint: open the Plus AI sidebar, click the menu icon, then Usage and Billing.
- In Google Slides: open the New Presentation window, then Manage Plans and Billing.
Two warnings from the same page. First, uninstalling the add on or add in does not cancel your subscription or delete your account. Second, Plus AI does not issue refunds for subscription payments. If you forget to cancel and an annual plan renews, the help center says you will not get that money back, so set a reminder for day 6 when you start.
Why some pages say Plus AI is free
You may see "Start for free" and "Get started for free" across Plus AI's site, and the Google Workspace Marketplace listing still has a "Start for free" section that talks about generating and editing presentations for free. That wording refers to the free trial. The same listing shows the price as a "Free of charge trial," and the help center says a paid plan is required.
The pricing page also mentions people who "previously signed up for the Plus free plan," which suggests there was a free plan at some point. It isn't offered on the current pricing page, so treat older reviews and videos that describe a free tier as out of date.
There is one genuinely free thing: Plus AI publishes free presentation templates for Google Slides and PowerPoint, including education themes. You can use those without the AI features.
Is there a Plus AI discount for students or teachers?
Plus AI's page for teachers says teachers and schools can fill out a form with a .edu email address to get an education discount on paid plans. It does not publish the size of the discount, and we found no separate student plan or student price on the pricing page. Schools can add users through the user management portal or contact Plus AI for a bulk order.
If you are a student on a budget, the trial plus a free tool is usually a better fit than a subscription. Our guide to the best AI tools for students lists options that cost nothing.
Plus AI vs Google AI Plus: two different products
A lot of searches mix up Plus AI with Google AI Plus. They are unrelated. Plus AI is the slide add on from the company behind plusdocs.com. Google AI Plus is one of Google's own subscription plans for personal accounts. Google's AI plans page lists Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month in the US, with more Gemini access, Gemini in Gmail and other Google apps, more Gemini Notebook use and 400 GB of storage. The same page says Gemini in Gmail, Docs and other Google apps on these plans is for users 18 and over.
If what you actually want is Gemini building slides inside Google Slides, read our guide to Gemini in Google Slides, which explains the plans and limits for that feature.
Is Plus AI worth paying for?
We have not used Plus AI ourselves, so this judgment rests on its features and prices. It makes the most sense for people who must deliver a real Google Slides or PowerPoint file that matches the rest of their work: consultants, sales teams, teachers with a set template, and anyone whose company will not accept a link to a web deck. Basic suits decks built from prompts; Pro is the one to pick if you turn PDFs or Word files into slides, because uploads start there.
It makes less sense if you only build a deck or two a year, if you are happy presenting from a web link, or if you already pay for an AI assistant that makes slides. Our ChatGPT Slides guide and Canva AI vs ChatGPT comparison cover those routes, and Microsoft 365 Copilot is the built in choice for people whose Microsoft plan already includes it.
Free alternatives to Plus AI
If the answer "trial only" rules Plus AI out, these are the places to look next:
- Gemini. Google's free Gemini app can now build a deck in a chat and open it in Google Slides. Our Gemini in Google Slides guide explains how that differs from the paid side panel.
- Gamma. A web first deck maker with a free plan that exports to PowerPoint and Google Slides; check its pricing page for the current credit allowance.
- Beautiful.ai. Like Plus AI it leans on trials rather than a free forever plan, so compare the two side by side in our PowerPoint roundup.
FAQ
Is Plus AI free for Google Slides?
No. The Google Slides add on needs a paid plan after a 7 day trial with 1,000 AI credits. The trial requires a credit card, and the subscription covers PowerPoint as well.
Do I need a credit card for the Plus AI free trial?
Yes. Plus AI's pricing page says a credit card is required to start the trial, and your card is charged automatically when the 7 days end unless you cancel first.
Does uninstalling Plus AI cancel my subscription?
No. The help center says uninstalling the Google add on or the PowerPoint add in does not cancel your subscription or delete your account. Cancel in the billing portal or through Usage and Billing in the add in.
Can I get a refund from Plus AI?
The help center says Plus AI does not offer refunds on subscription payments. Cancel before the trial ends or before a renewal date if you don't want to be charged.
How many presentations can I make with the trial?
Plus AI doesn't publish a deck count. It says a typical task uses 40 to 170 credits, so 1,000 trial credits covers roughly 6 to 25 tasks, and a full deck is usually one of the larger tasks.
Is Plus AI the same as Google AI Plus?
No. Plus AI is a third party slide add on for Google Slides and PowerPoint. Google AI Plus is Google's own subscription plan, listed at $4.99 a month in the US, which adds Gemini access and storage to a personal Google account.
